Journal History
ELEGENTIA: IAS Journal of Arts, Media, Technology is an international journal of Yayasan Irwan Abdullah Cendekia (YIAC). The Editorial Board welcomes critical articles dealing with topics including trans-locality, multiculturalism, hybridity, and in-betweenness, as well as theoretical papers on basic theories and methodologies of locality or trans-locality. The journal also welcomes papers of interdisciplinary studies, giving particular attention to diverse ways of reactions explored and pursued on a local level to such transnational and trans-local movements, and also to their possibilities of generating locality not only as a location of resistance against globality but also as a location of alternatives, including alternative theories, alternative communities, and alternative spaces. The journal devotes each 5000 words, perfect-bound localities issue to a contemporary problem or theme and features content that combines analitical, critical writing. The editors of each issue, experts in their field, act as the initial publications, while our integration of a double blind peer-review process has emphasized our commitment to producing critically relevant, cohesive issues. Contributors—consisting of Nusantara scholars and international authors—provide in depth and rigorous contribution on issues, themes and concerns within contemporary culture and localities.
IAS Journal of Localities regularly invites authors from a variety of communities and organizations and features promising as well as raising star writers. It also regularly collaborates with various institutions to create special issues that accompany exhibitions or events. Always committed to innovative and unexpected modes of publication, issues of IAS Journal of Localities have often incorporated design features and conceptual details that are specifically related to the nature of the up-to-date theme (such as global trends and local concerns), resulting in distinct issues that contribute to a collective vision and exploration of a theme and make each issue a self-contained and long-lasting reference.
