Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of rapai tunang uroh North Aceh's musical culture in the digital era, an issue that is increasingly relevant to the development of information technology that affects the preservation and transformation of traditional culture. This issue is important to discuss in the big map of musical culture theory that has provided an overview of how regional musical traditions survive and adapt in the context of digitalization. The purpose of this research is to understand the role and elements of the rapai tunang game, as well as the impact of digital media on the art of rapai. The method used in this research is qualitative with an analytical descriptive approach through observation and interviews with rapai tunang art practitioners. The results showed that although rapai tunang has been digitized, there are changes in the way performances are performed and the way cultural messages are conveyed. This research concludes that digitalization provides both opportunities and challenges to preserve rapai tunang, with the recommendation that performers make better use of digital media without sacrificing the essence of culture.
