This study examines the change in the Mesikhat motif in the traditional souvenirs of the Alas Tribe, a phenomenon that reflects the dynamics of cultural adaptation in the midst of the modernization of handicrafts. This change in motive is important because it shows how local cultural identity has undergone transformation due to market pressures and technological advancements, which is relevant in the study of cultural preservation and innovation of handicraft products. The purpose of the research is to understand changes in the design of motifs, materials, and working techniques and their impact on the preservation of culture and product competitiveness. The method used is a qualitative study with a field approach, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and visual documentation of artisans and business actors. The results of the study show that there is a combination of traditional and modern techniques that improve quality while maintaining cultural values. The conclusion affirms the importance of sustainable innovation without eliminating cultural roots, and recommends technology training and creative promotion to expand the Alas Tribe souvenir market.
