Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of Acehnese embroidery innovations in contemporary fashion design in response to social changes, technological developments, and the demands of the modern fashion industry that have the potential to shift the meaning of tradition. The purpose of this research is to analyze the form of innovation that occurs, the reasons for its emergence, and its implications for the sustainability of Aceh's embroidery cultural identity. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach through in-depth interviews, field observations, and literature studies. The results show that Acehnese embroidery innovations are reflected in the development of motifs from simple to more complex shapes, the shift of techniques from manual to digital, and the exploration of new materials that are more varied and functional. This transformation not only increases the efficiency and competitiveness of products, but also becomes an adaptive strategy for artisans in maintaining cultural relevance in the midst of modernity. This study concludes that Aceh's distinctive embroidery innovation is a reflective and sustainable cultural process, so it is recommended that there be a collaborative policy between craftsmen, designers, academics, and the government to maintain a balance between innovation, preservation of traditional values, and strengthening the creative industry based on local culture.
